September 2024, Guest Designer!

She’s worldwide famous and we get to hang out with her!

Meet Isa Catepillan of @isacatepillan!

Isa is one of those people that exude creativity and zen. I have long admired her ability to create beautiful garments but also for her use of neutrals and her understanding of the female body. Her custom-made wedding dresses are impeccable, but she also designs everyday staple garments with the same eye for detail. I love everything she makes!

From September we have one of her most popular existing patterns on loan on Plyful for 6 months!

She also has an amazing masterclass planned for us.

Read on to learn more about her and this month’s events!

Isa Catepillán (pronounced ‘Ca-te-pee-yan’) is a self-taught textile artist, a slow-fashion designer and bespoke maker whose work speaks about feminine strength and it’s innate connection with natural processes.

Combining modern style with ancient technique, Isa, who was born in Chile and now lives in Australia, finds endless inspiration and courage in her lineage of traditional weavers.

Isa’s intuitive creative process and attention to detail has led her to work with 1:1 clientes around the world in the designing and making of bespoke full length crochet dresses and wedding dresses, achieving a perfect fit by distance. Her work has been featured NITV, Modern Wedding Magazine, ABC News, Revista Ya, Marca Chile among others.

Our featured Design for the month of September is Davallia – a lacy marvel that is perfect for transitioning into colder weather!

Davallia was first published in PomPom Quarterly a few years ago, but we are very lucky to have it on loan for the next SIX months.

September Events

Given that Isa lives in Australia, the events this month will be at different times than usual. Please, be sure to check the calendar carefully!

Come and get to know Isa! As women, moms, Latin Americans and Immigrants, we have a lot in common on top of our love of crochet, so I cannot wait to chat to Isa and get to know her better!
