About Us

My name is Sandra Gutierrez and I am the creator of Plyful. I design crochet and knitting patterns under the name of Nomad Stitches, and together with my husband, Calum, we run Plyful from a tiny town in the Valencian Community in Spain – although during most of 2024 we also ran it from the inside of Betsy, our motorhome, all over Europe!

I was born in Mexico and Calum is from the UK. We ment while traveling the world when we were teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). Together we have lived in so many places. Our favorite moments usually involve good food, drinks and friends. We are raising two beautiful little girls – who you might get to see from time to time as models for my kid designs.

They say business isn’t personal, but in our case, it is (in the best way possible!).

A bit about Sandra’s crochet journey —

I started knitting and crocheting at a young age. I always loved creating my own designs and I didn’t really see it as a career until I saw that my crochet designs were missing in the patterns available at the time.

I got tired of following confusing instructions or finding that garments didn’t really fit after all of the work I had put into them, so I started writing my own patterns. Since then, I have worked hard to make them size inclusive and completely wearable. I call it Elevating Crochet – from a craft considered only for tableware to professionally fitting garments!

I also saw that there were no platforms dedicated to crochet, which is why my team and I created Plyful.
