I say it every time, but boy, am I excited about this one!
Meet Jeanette Haugland of @Vesleull!
Jeanette is know for creating lovely, super wearable garments with wonderful textures and for playing with color in such a great way. I have long admired her and work amazing talent, but I don’t know much about her. Which is why I am so excited that she has made some time in her schedule to talk to us and to teach a live class! I am thrilled to get to know her better!
Hi I`m Jeanette Haugland, and I feel like I just suddenly turned 47 and my 14 and 16 year old children are taller than me. That is correct, but oh dear…where have the years gone!
I live together with my man and our 2 children. I’ve been crocheting for as long as I can remember and started designing my own patterns when our oldest daughter was born in 2007. I felt there weren’t enough crochet patterns with a good fit for babies and toddlers regarding footwear, so I took matters into my own hands. At that time, I only used the patterns myself and crocheted for friends and acquaintances.
Over time, the garments grew with the children. Now I crochet sweaters and other items for both children and adults. In the past couple of years, I’ve also created patterns for my designs due to demand, so others can have the opportunity to crochet them, to my great joy. It should be enjoyable, so not everything turns into a pattern, especially when I just want to create something new all the time….
I aim to develop designs with a modern expression, but the traditional ‘old-fashioned’ style is also very exciting, romantic, and so much fun to create.
I’m a trained radiographer and have worked in a hospital, but for the past 13 years, radiography in the industry has been my workplace. So I´m not a full-time crocheter….. yet.
I’m the type of crocheter that needs more than one wip at a time.
«The joy of creating, expressing creativity, and being able to make up something entirely unique with just a crochet hook is absolutely fantastic and provides a wonderful dose of endorphins».
This has helped me for sure in dealing with my muscle and joint pain due to scoliosis, along with rest and workouts ;-).
