As you know, in the last few years I have gone down the Tunisian Crochet rabbit-hole and there is no way out for me. I love it and I know a lot of you are jumping on the Tunisian Crochet bandwagon with me.

One of the designers that has lead the charge into creating wearable, well-fitting and gorgeous tunisian crochet garments is Andrea Cretu, and I am so happy to have her as a guest designer this month with a marvelous pattern that explores color, fit and so much fun!

“My design journey started in 2016 out of curiosity and wanting to create something unique. Since then I’ve been experimenting with shaping and texture in both regular crochet and Tunisian crochet.

I’m drawn to intricate designs and projects that look complex, but are easy to make. I love exploring all types of fibers and usually allow the yarn to tell me what it wants to become.

While sometimes I enjoy working with straight lines, more often I use short rows and increases to create round, flowing objects with delicate textures.

You will find these in rounded shawls and capelets, garments with shaping in the armhole, neckline and bust, but also hats and mittens. Anything that can have shaping for a better fit, really.

For the past few years I’ve been exploring the best practices in garment grading for inclusive sizing and inclusive shaping and applying those to my garment patterns.”
