Anna Erlandsson

Welcome Anna Erlandsson of @hooked_by_anna as our May Guest Designer!

Based in Stockholm, Anna is part of a new generation of designers redefining what contemporary crochet can look like. Her work is clean, wearable, and thoughtfully constructed — pieces designed not just to be admired, but to become part of everyday life.

Central to Anna’s work is a clear mission: to broaden perceptions of crochet. She wants to move the craft beyond nostalgic stereotypes and showcase its versatility and untapped potential. Through thoughtful shaping, contemporary silhouettes, and careful attention to detail, she demonstrates just how modern crochet can be.

Interestingly, Anna balances her creative career with a role in data analytics within the tech industry — a combination that perhaps explains the clarity and structure evident in her designs. There is logic in her construction, intention in every detail.

Anna has crocheted and knitted since childhood, but she became a dedicated crocheter in 2010 while expecting her first child. That season of life shaped her creative direction in a lasting way. It sharpened her focus on function: how a garment fits, how it feels against the skin, and how it is actually used.

Because for Anna, crochet should do more than look beautiful. It should be practical. Comfortable. Designed to integrate naturally into real wardrobes and daily routines.

Her designs span clothing, accessories, and homewares, with garments forming the heart of her portfolio. She works primarily in natural fibres, favouring materials that enhance both wearability and longevity. The result is crochet that feels refined and modern — understated yet distinctive.

With more than 50 published patterns to her name, Anna has established herself as a respected voice in the fibre community. She publishes independently and collaborates with yarn brands and magazines, including Laine Publishing and Järbo. Alongside her design work, she regularly teaches workshops and courses across Sweden, sharing her knowledge and encouraging others to explore garment-focused crochet.

She lives in Stockholm with her husband, three children, and their dog — designing pieces that reflect the rhythm of real life.

Hooked by Anna is not about fleeting trends or decorative excess. It is about craftsmanship with purpose. It is about garments made to be worn, loved, and lived in.

And in doing so, Anna is proving something quietly powerful: crochet belongs firmly in the modern wardrobe.
